Sunday afternoon about 5pm we went to a friend's neighborhood where they were putting on a nativity play in her driveway. The kids were so precious. At the end she had a neighbor speak. This was his second Christmas to celebrate knowing Jesus as his Savior. He was such a blessing to hear.
Around 6pm our neighbors and "elves" the McWhorter's called and said there was some activity going on at our house and we better get home.
As we drove up our drive way the local high school drum line was in our front yard. Yes I said we had a live drum line in our front yard. We could hear the drumming in the car. We got out of the car and they entertained us with Drums a Drumming and great cadences. These Pope High School students did not know us but they stood in the cold to spread some Christmas cheer. I hope none of them got frost bite. With their cold fingers they played beautifully. It made you want to dance and march around. We could not believe that our friends would go to such great lengths to show us that we are loved. We were humbled that these students gave of their talents to bless us - strangers. Also a thank you to there parents who were standing in our driveway also in the cold.
When we came in the house Barrett said, "That was the best thing ever!" It was great!
One of our close friends called on the phone. He told us he knew about it and wanted to see what we thought. We started to thank him thinking he was probably the ring leader and he said that he was not the leader. He said that the head "elf" had not given permission to reveal him or herself. He suggested that we remember that the drums are like "God's Heartbeat" for us so loud and strong.
We receive these gifts as gifts (or hugs) from the Lord. We receive them with such gratitude for the kindness He showed us through our friends. I once read that "Worship was when you're aware that what you've been given is far greater than what you can give." So in Worship to the Lord this Season we offer thanks to Him for using common people to do uncommon things to show us His Love. He never fails to show us how much He cares for the smallest of details in our lives. He knew what we needed this year and He laid it on the hearts of others to bless us.
To our friends we say, Thank you for being obedient to the Lord. He used you in a way you will never know to bless us. We love you!
Here we are with all our 12 Days. Well not all of them, some are in our bellies.
Our Love,
The Meadows
